CLI Newsletter January 1-31, 2020 – Partnering with God!

Dear Partner/Friend This is a new year and a new season.  We rejoice in God’s goodness and praise God for you our partners.  

Presentations
Donovan had the opportunity of sharing a motivational devotion with the staff of the Planning Institute of Jamaica (PIOJ) in their first staff meeting for the year. This went very well. We have been given the opportunity to do some presentations at Shortwood Teachers’ College.  Donovan has done presentations on Suicide Prevention and Getting Past Your Past so far and these have been very impactful.   

Donovan and Faith had the opportunity to share with Immaculate Conception High School’s Grades 12 and 13 on Stress Management.  The sessions were very interactive and the students learnt a lot about the causes, consequences and management of stress. They were grateful for what they learnt. 

This year we started a programme at MICO University College with their Associate Degree programme, where we are doing the Art and Science of Happiness as the first part of the rolling out of the Shalom Project for Personal and Community Transformation programme. We were invited to go to the Jamaica Stock Exchange Conference Launch, and Donovan was given the opportunity to be a participant in their conference.  This provided some networking opportunities.  We watch to see how God will use the connections forged. Faith had some media opportunities as she continues to be invited to be a volunteer counsellor on Nationwide FM’s Every Woman Programme. Praise God for these opportunities that provide publicity for Choose Life International. Faith was on CVM TV on their morning programme, CVM At Sunrise, talking about Sex and Youth. She was part of a small panel that also had a pastor, Pastor Marsha from Fellowship Tabernacle and a young man.  Faith was the psychologist on the panel.  The discussion went very well and she was able to share a psychological yet scripturally based perspective. Praise God.

Prayer Request and Notices Pray for our activities in March where we will be partnering with an overseas missions team which will be doing a 1-hour presentation in Jamaican schools.  If you have a High school where you would like us to do an evangelistic presentation for an hour, please contact us for further details (Donovan Thomas – 876-869-3403 / 876-920-7924 – office#)
